This is an excellent product! I placed this inside a 27 gallon container to hydrate and 12 hours later, after breaking it all up by hand, it fills more than half! So 17 gal. of product is a very accurate description, but you do have to break it all up or it will stay clumped up and won't fully expand.
This stuff is great! Just add water, let it sit for a few hours, and POOF! You have 17 gallons of quality coco fiber. I chose coco over peat simply for price. You get much more product with this for your money than you could ever get with peat moss. Plus it is great for sandy soils, as it helps moisture retention. I definitely recommend this, and I'm sure I will buy more in the spring!
Perfect for my application as a medium for new clone cuttings. Ph seemed to be in check, the plants started well. I've also added it to soil mixes with good results as well.
This works great for my compost / red worm culture.
Used 2 blocks as worm bedding. I know people say coco coir may have salts that could be harmful to worms and to rinse it thoroughly but I did not do this and my worms are doing great. I plan to use some more for my second bedding mix for when I swap around the worms in a few months.
